My Favorite Washington Vacation Rentals
One of my favorite things about WA state is how much there is to explore! While I’ve done my share of day trips, sometimes you have to make a weekend of it if you want to go further and explore some of the more remote parts of the state. I’m a big fan of browsing through AirBnB and VRBO to find cute cabins and cottages for little trips away from the city. Here I’ve compiled a list of all my favorite Washington vacation rentals that I’ve stayed in!
Little Elk Cabin
Ashford, WA
This adorable little cabin is located just outside the Longmire entrance of Mount Rainier National Park. My family and I stayed here when they visited, and we all loved it!
The cabin perfectly captures that cozy mountain feel, with knotty pine walls, a wood-burning stove, and adorable decor details like the ski handrails going up the stairs. It’s also about as close as you can reasonably get to the park without staying inside, which helps you get a head start on the trails!

Serene Cottage
Sequim, WA
This little cottage on the Olympic peninsula is perfect for a couple’s retreat! It has a gorgeous view overlooking Dungeness Bay and is right across the street from the water with private beach access. The cottage is quite small (studio style) but very comfortable and well decorated.
We loved our weekend here with our dog Lucy and explored nearby Port Townsend, the Sequim lavender fields, and Lake Crescent in Olympic National Park.

Winthrop River House
Winthrop, WA
This adorable, dog-friendly rental was the perfect stay for our weekend trip to Winthrop! This house was built in the 1920s and has been restored while retaining all of its vintage charm. All of the appliances are retro in style and there’s even a pull-chain toilet in the bathroom. The house overlooks the Chewuch River off the back porch and is only a 5-minute walk to downtown Winthrop. We stayed here with friends and had a great time enjoying Winthrop’s cowboy charm and hiking in the nearby North Cascades National Park in October. Make sure to step outside at night and look up– Winthrop has some of the darkest skies for stargazing and spotting the Milky Way.
Olympic Foothills Lodge
Port Angeles, WA
This luxurious lodge is mountain living at its finest! My family stayed here with two other families for a night and wished we could have had longer. The Lodge comes with all the amenities, including a sauna, fire pit, and hot tub. There are also little walking trails through the forest outside the house, so you can take a walk and try to spot some banana slugs or blacktail deer.
The Lodge is aptly named for its close proximity to Olympic National Park and Hurricane Ridge. For large groups, this one is a great option.

Bear Hollow Guesthouse at the Double O Ranch
Concrete, WA
North Cascades is one of the least-visited national parks in the country, mostly due to how remote it is and because it’s frequently overshadowed by Olympic and Mount Rainier. However, the American Alps are definitely worth a visit! Concrete, WA is one of the tiny towns on the outskirts of the park and may be one of the closest places to find lodging.
Bear Hollow is located with several other cabins and guesthouses on a family-owned cattle ranch with majestic views of the mountains. I stayed in this cute little cabin with my family when we visited and we all found it very comfortable. It may not be the newest, but it is adorably decorated (sticking well to the bear theme) and immaculately clean. You can see the love and care put into the place by the owners in every detail (like the handmade soaps provided in the bathrooms). Kids will love the farm animals and all the exploration available nearby.

Painted Pony Cabin
Plain, WA
Located just a scenic 20 minute drive north of Leavenworth, WA, this cabin is nestled in the trees. Everything about it is cute and cozy with wood plank walls, window seat in the bedroom, and even heated floors! There’s an electric fireplace (so no hassle with chopping firewood) and a hot tub. The cabin is even dog-friendly, so our pup was able to come along! As for what’s nearby, there is Mountain Springs Lodge which has activities for every season (I’d highly recommend the ziplining and sleigh rides) and the Old Mill Cafe, which has great home cooking. Or, you can head into Leavenworth for Bavarian-themed fun.
