My June Bucket List
June Bucket List: 10 Summer Activities to Do This Month
Summer always feels like a season full of possibilities and opportunities. In the beginning, it feels like you have so much time to accomplish the things you want, but summer also has a way of slipping away from us. I started making a monthly bucket list of activities in my bullet journal or planner to help me really live in each season. Here is my June Bucket List of 10 summer activities to do this month to make the most of June!
1 – Make homemade lemonade from fresh lemons
Nothing says “summer” like fresh-squeezed lemonade. There are so many different recipes, from the classic lemon juice, sugar, and water to updated twists that include other fruits or alcohol. Hop on Pinterest and start collecting recipes to try, and make a big pitcher to last you all week!
2 – Have a movie night. Bonus points if you make it a backyard one!
Movie tickets are expensive these days and almost all of us have one streaming service or another. Pick out a new movie on Netflix or Amazon Prime Video and pop some popcorn. Make it extra special by piling pillows and blankets in the floor to make a comfy nest. Or take it up a notch by setting up a backyard theater! Spread picnic blankets on the grass and hang a bedsheet as a movie screen. You can get a portable phone projector to project your movie!
3 – Treat yourself to a donut on National Donut Day
As if we really need an excuse to eat more donuts! But hey, I’ll take it. Lots of donut shops and bakeries offer special deals or flavors on this day, so look around to see if there are any near you. I’m always down for a classic Krispy Kreme glazed donut, but I also love Top Pot’s Cookies and Cream donut here in Seattle!
4 – Take your dog on an evening walk around the neighborhood
To be honest, you should probably be doing this every day anyway, but make it extra special for your four-legged friend by taking a new route or going to a local park instead! They’ll love the new sights and smells and walking with your dog is a great way to keep you both healthy and strengthen your bond. All dogs love a good “sniffari” from time to time, when you let them set the pace and sniff to their heart’s content.
5 – Take a suburban safari with a visit to your local zoo
When was the last time you took a trip to the zoo? I know for me there was quite a gap between childhood and adulthood which is a shame because I love the zoo! Visiting one is a great way to explore your love for animals, support conservation efforts for endangered and threatened species, and learn new information. It’s also super relaxing to watch them interact in their habitats.

6 – Have brunch with your BFF for National Best Friends Day
Life gets busy and makes it easy to forget to set up time to see friends. Use this day as the reminder you need to catch up with your BFF! Pick a new brunch place you’ve both been wanting to try and spend as long as you need chatting and hanging out.
7 – Hit the beach for some sun and sand
No summer is complete without a beach day! I’m lucky to have grown up just hours away from some of the best beaches in the US, and have so many good memories of our annual family beach trips. There’s something so therapeutic about saltwater, sunshine, and sand.
8 – Read a novel just for fun– nothing serious!
Take a break from social media, the news, and that dry nonfiction book you’ve been struggling through for weeks and pick up something fun! Chick Lit, Harlequin Romance, whatever it is, it should be fun and easy. This is the best way I’ve found to rediscover what it is to fall in love with a book and enjoy reading again. I like to get book recommendations from Reese Witherspoon’s Book Club!
9 – Go strawberry picking at a local farm
Fresh berries are some of the best things about summer. Picking strawberries is easy and rewarding, so find a local farm that offers U-Pick and go collect a basket! Share with family, bake something delicious, or have a chocolate fondue night with chocolate-dipped strawberries.
10 – Celebrate your dad on Father’s Day
We can’t forget Dad! Plan something special for Father’s Day weekend, like treating him to his favorite restaurant, grilling together, or going for a hike. Whatever it is, spending time together is the best gift.
I hope this June Bucket List gives you some ideas of summer activities to do this month! A mix of bigger and smaller things is a good way I’ve found to really make the most of each season without getting overwhelmed by trying to do it all. Something as simple as enjoying seasonal fruit helps to live more presently and intentionally.
Save this list for future reference when you’re bored or stuck trying to think of something to do!
